Everybody is being affected by the downturn in the economy. When you sit back and think about all the supply lines and how all the economic balances play out, you realize how intertwined we all are.The local factory laying off workers affects the local restaurants, those local restaurants then do poorly which means they order less food which affects the suppliers, the suppliers then order less food from their manufacturers and this goes on and on all the way down the line. Truly everybody feels the pain in one way or another.

So, if everyone is being affected, how about teenagers? With the terrible economy, will teenagers be forced to make some changes as well? It’s likely that due to financial circumstances, some parents will have to either cut back or eliminate the allowances they give to their children. If this is the case, more teenagers than ever might be looking for a job or looking for techniques to make some extra spending money.

Teenagers are a big part of the economy and many markets are dependent on the spending habits of teenagers. The movie industry, the video game industry, and the clothes industry are just a few that teenagers contribute greatly to. Teens spend more now than they ever did in years past and they require a source of income if they’re to keep up those spending habits. This means that several teens will indeed be in need of a job, just like everyone else.
Teens often start out with jobs in the service industry as that’s where the most entry level and part time positions exist. However, with everyone cutting back by eating and going out less, the number of job openings in the service sector might not be great enough to keep up with the demand.

The lucky teenagers will be able to land that part time job but probably not all will be able to find one. Teens who act early and have the best work history have the best chance of getting their first job. It won’t hurt them to be enthusiastic and appear eager to work as those with the best demeanor and attitude will have an advantage. As in life, the teens who opt to work hard the hardest will be the ones that end up succeeding in getting their jobs.
